Indigenous Ingenuity: Timeless Inventions is an interactive, customized, 100 sqm exhibition, built by 3DS for Indigenous Tourism Ontario and Science North, that explores Indigenous innovations from across Canada and shares the experiences of First Nations and Inuit peoples, with a focus on Anishinaabek and Nehiyaw territories.
Exhibit components include hands-on, engaging displays and interactive structures that emphasize Indigenous perspectives, storytelling, ways of learning and teaching, contributions to society, and connections between past and present day innovations and applications. From dog sledding in VR, to building an igloo, there’s something for everyone!
Indigenous Ingenuity is a travelling exhibit expected to be assembled in 20 sites across Ontario over the next two years (Sep 2022 – June 2024), starting at its first stop at the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre in Kenora, ON. This level of travel calls for an exhibit that can withstand extensive reassembly and usage; hence, 3DS made sure to design and fabricate all elements of this exhibit with durability, ease of assembly, and weight in mind.
While this exhibit is intended to be installed in a variety of locations on a temporary basis, it does not compromise on quality and accessibility. This exhibit is ADA approved and considerate of all audiences. Visitors of all ages and abilities can engage with and learn from the various interactive and informative features of this exhibit.
The scope of services 3DS provided for this project include exhibit detailing, fabrication, and project management.
